Comparing alternatives to Deel for hiring employees in Indonesia

Deel Alternatives for Indonesia

Why teams look for an alternative

Three reasons come up repeatedly, and all three are about commercial structure rather than service quality: Deel is a strong product, rated 4.9 out of 5 across 4,299 Capterra reviews.

01

Deposit escalation

A standard EOR deposit of 1 to 1.5 times all monthly charges, rising to two months on contract changes many companies treat as routine. Most providers including MixWork require a deposit; what varies is how easily it escalates.

02

Flat fees at Indonesian salaries

USD 599 per employee per month is competitive against a European salary and expensive against an Indonesian one. The lowest published fee in this set is Remote People at USD 199 per employee per month.

03

Distance when something needs a person

No published response-time SLA, no published disclosure of which tiers include a dedicated contact, and equipment fulfilled from hubs outside Asia-Pacific.

Deel Alternatives for Hiring in Indonesia (2026)

By the MixWork Team · Pricing re-verified 7 September 2026, other terms as at 1 August 2026

If you are moving off Deel for Indonesia, the shortlist is short. Remote for deposit-free published pricing. Omni HR for an HR platform and employer of record on one published rate card. Multiplier for a lower entry price. MixWork if you want the people found as well as employed, with Total Care 360, our own Jakarta and Singapore offices and our own managed-IT team inside one engagement rather than metered as add-ons. Deel remains the better choice if you hire across many countries.

Disclosure: MixWork is one of the alternatives listed here. All competitor figures were read from each provider’s own published pages on 1 August 2026, with pricing re-verified on 7 September 2026, and are sourced at the foot of this page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Deel alternative for hiring in Indonesia?

It depends on why you are leaving. For the lowest published fee, Remote People at USD 199 per employee per month. For deposit-free published pricing, Remote. For recruitment, HR management and in-region IT support, MixWork. For a lower entry price on a global platform, Multiplier at USD 459 per employee per month billed annually against Deel's USD 599. Figures accessed 7 September 2026.

Why do companies look for a Deel alternative for Indonesia?

The three reasons we hear most are the security deposit of 1 to 1.5 times all monthly charges tying up working capital, a flat USD 599 per employee per month being poor value at Indonesian salary levels, and wanting someone physically present when a dispute, termination or hardware failure needs handling.

Is Deel a bad choice for Indonesia?

No, and we would not claim that. Deel publishes clear pricing, owns a wholly owned Jakarta entity, and rates 4.9 out of 5 across 4,299 Capterra reviews. The question is whether a global platform is the right shape for a team concentrated in one country.

Do any Deel alternatives avoid a security deposit?

Yes. Remote's pricing page states that no upfront deposits are required except in rare high-risk circumstances. To be straight about our own position: MixWork's EOR does require a deposit of one to two months, which is broadly comparable to Deel's, though MixWork Managed IT requires none. Confirm what triggers a deposit and what triggers its return before signing anything.

Why teams look for an alternative

Three reasons come up repeatedly, and all three are about commercial structure rather than service quality. Deel is a strong product with 4.9 out of 5 across 4,299 Capterra reviews:

  • Deposit escalation. Deel’s help centre documents a standard EOR deposit of 1 to 1.5 times all monthly charges (salary, employer costs, allowances and fees combined), rising to two months if you remove probation, grant leave more than eight days above the minimum, or transfer an employee with accrued benefits. That is working capital committed for the life of the engagement.

  • Flat fees at Indonesian salary levels. USD 599 per employee per month is competitive against a European salary and expensive against an Indonesian one. The lowest published fee in this set is Remote People at USD 199 per employee per month.

  • Distance when something needs a person. Deel publishes no response-time SLA and does not publish which tiers include a dedicated customer success manager. Equipment ships from London, Amsterdam or Houston, and express shipping is offered in the UK, EU and US only.

The alternatives, by what you are optimising for

An HR platform and an EOR from one vendor: Omni HR

Omni HR publishes an employer-of-record rate of USD 249 per employee per month, against Deel’s USD 599 (read 12 September 2026). It sells that alongside a core HR platform at USD 3 per employee per month, payroll software at USD 2 to 4 and managed payroll from USD 15, so the employment layer sits inside a wider HR stack.

Its pricing page states the fee carries employment contracts tailored to local law, payroll processing, tax registration and filing, benefits administration and local compliance advisory. No Indonesia-specific rate or country list is published, and recruitment, workspace and device provisioning are not published as part of it, so confirm scope and Indonesian coverage before you compare the number.

Deposit-free published pricing: Remote

USD 699 per employee per month published on Remote’s own Indonesia page, with no platform, onboarding or setup fees, no upfront deposits and no minimum headcount. Higher headline fee, better cash-flow terms. Note that device management is fulfilled by a third party with no published delivery timeline, detail in our MixWork vs Remote comparison.

A lower entry price: Multiplier

EOR published from USD 459 per employee per month billed annually as a global entry rate (accessed 7 September 2026), with dedicated managers at the base tier. Be aware that Multiplier publishes no Indonesia-specific rate and no Indonesia case study, detail in our MixWork vs Multiplier comparison.

Management and IT on the ground: MixWork

If you are leaving because legal employment was solved but day-to-day management was not, that is the gap we built for. Total Care 360 includes a named HR manager in Indonesia, employee engagement and dispute resolution, performance feedback and attendance monitoring, monthly employee and client check-in calls and our own Jakarta office. Devices come from in-region stock via the MixWork Managed IT at USD 99 per device / month with no deposit. We engage people only as full-time permanent employees, if you need contractor management, Deel offers it and we do not. Side-by-side detail is in our MixWork vs Deel comparison.

How to check a provider can actually support you on the ground

Compliance is table stakes and every provider here delivers it. What separates them is what happens when something needs a person rather than a dashboard. These are the questions worth asking, and the answers are easy to verify:

  1. Who physically handles a termination or a grievance, and have they run that process in Indonesia before? Ask for a description of the last one they handled.

  2. Do I get a named contact who stays the same, or a queue? Ask for the person’s role and working hours.

  3. What hours is support actually staffed in Indonesian time, and is that a published commitment or a marketing line?

  4. Is there a published response-time commitment for anything? If not, ask for one in writing.

  5. Where do laptops come from, how long does handover take, and who fixes one that fails?

  6. Is there somewhere my team can physically sit if they need to, and what does it cost?

  7. Who notices if a good employee quietly disengages, and is that someone’s actual job?

A provider that answers all seven concretely is operating here. One that answers three is selling you software with a compliance wrapper, which may be exactly what you need, but you should know which you are buying.

How we compare, and how these claims are substantiated

This page compares published commercial terms, not service quality. Every figure attributed to Deel was read directly from Deel’s own published pages on 1 August 2026, with all pricing re-verified on 7 September 2026, and each source is listed at the end of this page. We hold copies of those pages as they appeared on that date. Our full comparison methodology and disclaimers sets out the standards we apply.

  • We compare like with like. Where the two offerings are not directly comparable, we say so rather than implying an advantage.

  • “Not published” means exactly that. Where we note that Deel does not publish something, we mean it was not on Deel’s public pages on 1 August 2026. It is not a statement that Deel cannot or does not provide it.

  • We make no claim about Deel’s service quality. We have not used customer complaints or negative review commentary to argue our case.

  • We name where Deel is stronger. A comparison that finds no merit in the alternative is not a fair comparison, and would not help you decide.

  • Figures go out of date. Third-party pricing and terms change without notice and we do not monitor them continuously. Verify current terms against Deel’s own pages before you contract.

Spotted something inaccurate or out of date? Email support@mixwork.co with the statement and a link to the correct source, and we will verify and correct or remove it promptly. That invitation applies to competitors as much as customers.
